The NWMC has long served as a forum for elected officials and professional staff to discuss topics and exchange ideas for the betterment of their communities. As members of the Northwest Municipal Conference, we believe we are a model for bringing together diverse local government interests to plan for our future and provide strong, innovative, well-run communities for our citizens and businesses.
The NWMC serves the needs of local governments through a variety of programs and services that combine the resources of individual members to address regional and state issues.
Membership in the Conference is limited to municipalities in the north and northwest suburban area of metropolitan Chicago and who pay the specified dues for each fiscal year. Membership dues are assessed per capita, with a maximum and minimum amount.
The Executive Board reviews petitions for membership and presents a recommendation at a regularly scheduled meeting. The Conference, by majority vote at the next regularly scheduled meeting, acts on the petition for membership.
Membership in the Conference is limited to municipalities. For those interested in supporting the mission of the NWMC, the Conference offers sponsorship opportunities at its annual gala in June.
There are no membership dues to participate in Suburban Purchasing Cooperative (SPC). All public agencies as defined by the Illinois Governmental Joint Purchasing Act, as well as not-for-profit agencies that qualify under Section 45-35 of the Illinois Procurement Code, are eligible to participate in SPC joint purchasing programs.
